After settling the two of them in a side hall, Hulin gave Caslo a brief explanation before turning to leave, leaving behind only Wes, who was battling the exquisite pastries, and Caslo, who looked utterly helpless.
"Have I been starving you these past few days?" Caslo covered his face, nearly breaking down. Wes had charged in like a starving ghost reborn, stuffing pastries into his mouth with wild abandon. It was truly embarrassing.
"Smells amazing! Teacher, try some!" Wes raised his little hand and offered one to Caslo.
"No! No!" Caslo hurriedly refused, his face full of disgust.
"Mmm, delicious!" Caslo gave a thumbs-up.
"Tasty, right? Have some more?" Wes mumbled through a mouthful of pastry.
"Forget it. There's still a banquet later, so eat less!" Caslo patted his head in reminder.
Plop! The pastry in Wes's mouth instantly fell to the floor, and his face crumpled in misery.
"Teacher, why didn't you tell me earlier? I've never attended a banquet in my entire life!" Wes looked at Caslo as though he had suffered an enormous loss, as if he had missed out on five million.
"..." Caslo's eye twitched a few times. He glanced at the attendant standing nearby with an unchanged expression and sighed.
"Lord Caslo, His Highness the Regent summons you!" Before long, Hulin entered and spoke to Caslo.
"Alright, thank you. Stay here and wait for me! Why are you following me?" Caslo had only taken two steps before turning back to look at Wes, who was trailing behind him.
"Okay..." Wes timidly sat back down, answering listlessly.
"Let's go, Lord Hulin!" Caslo nodded to Hulin, signaling that they could leave.
"Greetings, Your
