"The stench of blood is so thick! Even though it's no longer fresh..." Caldo said gravely. Flies buzzed all around them, making the dragon exceptionally irritable.
"...Grandpa!" Wes looked at the ruined village and immediately ran toward his home.
"It's already been several days! These bloodstains have dried up!" Caslo frowned as he looked at the purplish-black blood on the ground.
"Go check on your student... I have a feeling something's not right with him!" Caldo tilted his head at Caslo. He looked fine now, but he probably wouldn't be in a while.
"Grandpa! Grandpa!" Wes's anguished cries burst into the ears of the man and dragon with explosive force.
"Damn it! Fuck!" Caslo's face darkened. He didn't even need to look to know what had happened.
"Teacher... Grand... Grandpa, he... sob..." Wes sat there in a daze, clutching a corpse that had begun to stink and rot. From its features, they could vaguely make out what the old man had looked like in life.
"Blade wounds! A heavy blade! Not a human weapon!" Caslo crouched down and carefully examined the wounds on the old man's corpse before raising his head to look at Wes. Wes was numbly holding the rotting body, sobbing, his empty eyes fixed on the doorway. A trail of blood stretched from there to beneath the old man, while a cleaver dotted with dark blood lay on the ground nearby.
"Something's off! Why is this place such a mess? There are too many different traces here!" Caldo sounded puzzled.
"What did you find?" Caslo casually dragged Wes to his feet. Smelling the stench of decay clinging to him, Caslo frowned. Dragon Power swiftly coursed through Wes's body once! The dead were gone, but the living still had to go on. Wes could easily contract a
