In a ward at Arkham Asylum, Brand held a chart and looked at Schiller lying on the bed. He gently shook his head and sighed. Just then, a nurse rushed in.
"Doctor Brand! A lunatic just charged through the front gate. He said... he said his name was Jack! He said he needed treatment!"
Brand frowned. "Jack? Green hair, clown makeup?"
"That's right. And he was soaked to the bone, trembling when he came in. I heard from the senior nurses that he's quite a troublesome patient. Would you like to see him personally?"
Brand turned and glanced once more at Schiller on the hospital bed. But then he set down the chart and pen in his hands and said to the nurse, "Lead the way."
In truth, he did not need the nurse to lead him. The moment Brand stepped out of the room, he saw Joker Jack stumbling toward him from the end of the corridor.
"Doctor! Doctor! Somebody get over here! Save me! I'm having extremely severe auditory hallucinations. I need some medication! I have to get some medication!!"
Brand raised a hand, stopping Joker Jack from rushing at him. Then he said, "Listen, Jack. Your attending physician is Schiller, and he's still unconscious. I can take over your treatment, but I suggest you wait for a while..."
Jack froze where he stood. Looking at Brand, he asked, "Schiller really is unconscious?"
Brand said in confusion, "What do you mean, he really is unconscious? You knew he was unconscious before you came here? That shouldn't be possible. Very few people know about this, and they shouldn't be spreading it around..."
Jack squatted down directly on the floor, covered his face with both hands, and said in utter collapse, "Do you know? Before I came here, a lunatic
