"As you can see, in the winter of 1991, I walked down a dead end." The low voice sounded again, still carrying an indelible, profound regret.

He sighed softly, as if deliberately trying to end the heavy topic. "But what shocked me beyond measure was that, for me, death was not the end. After a long darkness, I woke up once again, in an orphanage in East Berlin."

"I was utterly lost and had no idea what had happened, but later, I quickly accepted reality and was overjoyed, because I had been given a second chance. Better still, the orphanage I was in was located in East Berlin, and its director was a KGB agent."

"This was precisely a base where the Soviet Union secretly cultivated agents. These orphans were children who had lost their families to war. They were brought back to the orphanage and cared for, and would eventually become steadfast warriors."

"I retained the memories of my previous life, and I was the oldest among the children, so my grades were the best. Logically, I could have stayed there and followed the same path, using the advantage of foresight to save my homeland."

"But during the decades before my life came to an end, I saw the truth of our destruction. It was not something an outstanding agent, a steadfast soldier, or a brilliant scholar could solve."

"All of us had gone wrong. This country was terminally ill, and even if I had returned to childhood, becoming an agent alone would not be enough to cure such a deep-rooted disease."

"And during that time, I discovered that I was somewhat different from my previous life."

As the voice narrated, the scene unfolded before Schiller once more.

The sound of footsteps came from the end of an alley.
