A Christmas tree covered in colored lights and baubles turned slowly. A hand holding a small American flag adjusted a branch that had been knocked crooked, and Steve carefully tucked the tiny triangular flag into the side of the tree.
The click of high heels approached from afar. Natasha, graceful and alluring, greeted colleagues as she walked over. Seeing Steve in a Christmas sweater, she raised her brows, whistled, and said, "Hey, sweet boy, why are you dressed up so sharp today?"
Steve smiled at Natasha, but it made her freeze. Then she said, "Captain, what did you take?"
Natasha looked Steve over from head to toe again and found nothing unusual, which only made her feel even stranger.
This sexy, beautiful female agent had always been good at appreciating handsome men. Almost no handsome agent or superhero in S.H.I.E.L.D. had escaped her teasing. Most had grown used to it, and many were even proud of it, Stark among them.
After all, Natasha had high standards. If this battle-hardened female agent took the initiative to flirt with you, it meant you stood out among men.
But not everyone was so open-minded. Captain America clearly belonged to the more conservative camp. Whenever Natasha got flirtatious in the past, Steve would frown, turn around, and check whether there were any minors nearby, making sure he was not setting a bad example.
Yet Natasha had clearly just seen Steve wink at her. The experienced female agent knew it could not possibly have been an illusion. Captain America was in an unusually good mood today.
