Schiller shifted slightly to the side and leaned against Scott. That way, the two of them were both sitting on the right side of the sofa, while Polaris, seated on the left, was directly facing Magneto.

Magneto also put on a fake smile that did not reach his eyes. "Is that so? When you ran off to the Sulphur Dwarves' planet and didn't come back for three months, you never said you missed anyone."

Polaris's smile stiffened for a moment, but then she refused to back down. "Actually, I miss my mother and my adoptive father more. They were the most patient and loving people I've ever met..."

The smile on Magneto's face also froze, but then he spoke again in that low voice. "But unfortunately, you are nothing like your mother. She was a gentle lady..."

"Oh, really? Then perhaps you never saw what she was really like." Beneath Polaris's smile, her teeth had clenched tight. "People are always especially polite when they aren't familiar with someone..."

"Unfortunately, you have no manners even when you are familiar with someone."

Scott leaned against the armrest on the right side of the sofa, while Schiller leaned against Scott. Each held a cup of tea as they turned sideways to watch the left, looking exactly like old men watching people fight at a barbecue stand across the street, save for the missing little stools.

"Doctor Schiller, are we just going to let them argue?" Scott lowered his voice as he looked at Schiller and asked. Schiller blew on his tea and said, "Don't worry. It won't get too serious."

"Really? They've both stood up. They aren't going to fight, are they?" Scott's voice was full of concern.

Just as he had said, Polaris had already risen and walked out of the sofa
