"Denied." Schiller did not even look up. "You don't have a letter of recommendation."
With a slap, a document was placed in front of Schiller. Without even looking at it, Schiller said, "No chance. No one's recommendation letter will help. Your grades are simply too terrible. It was already generous enough that you were allowed to graduate with that thesis of yours."
Another sheet of paper was handed over. Schiller glanced at it and found that it was a transfer application for Gotham University, already stamped several times. Only then did Schiller look up. He leaned back in his chair with complete ease, looked at Bruce, and gave a smug smile before saying, "You never would have guessed that I submitted my resignation before you did."
But Bruce was not flustered in the slightest. He took out another document and handed it to Schiller. It was an approval notice for an intern doctor position at Arkham Asylum. Schiller snorted and said, "No matter what, I'm denying this. I don't take graduate students. Unless you can somehow..."
Before he could finish, the phone rang again. Schiller stood from behind his desk. As he passed Bruce, he glanced at him, then went over to answer the phone. Gordon's booming voice came from the other end:
"Schiller, have mercy! Get Bruce to do something useful!! Make him come study under you already! If he keeps pestering Selene every day, we're going to lose another excellent nurse!"
"Can't he study under Victor?" Schiller asked.
"But he's having far too much fun in the Physics Department! He only needs two hours a day to finish his coursework, then spends ten hours dating Selene! Please! Selene has two children. If she has to spend time dating too, who's going to do the nursing work?"
