"Your father is Drake..." Batman's deep voice echoed through the dark alley.
He thought back. Drake was a well-known businessman in Gotham, and the Drake family was also one of Gotham's more prominent merchant families. Originally from England, they now dealt in automobile imports.
Because he was always complaining that left-hand-drive cars were difficult to handle, he had earned the nickname "Right-Hand-Drive Drake." He was honest and helpful, though anyone who could thrive in Gotham naturally had close ties with the gang bosses as well. He often helped them acquire all kinds of luxury cars.
Drake had protected his family well, so almost nothing was known about his home life. If Tim had not brought it up himself, even Bruce would not have known that the Drake family had only one son.
That was rare among Gotham's wealthy. In a city with such poor security, having only one child meant there was a real chance of the family line ending. But Batman soon discovered that old Drake's son was anything but ordinary.
Tim rapidly introduced himself, then poked his head out from beside Batman and shouted toward the end of the alley, "Oh my God! Is that Dick? Dick Grayson? Aren't you the Ballet Kid from Palm Tree Middle School? Were you attacked too?!"
Tim sprinted toward Dick so quickly that even Batman failed to catch him. After reaching him, he helped Dick up. Dick was still a little dazed. He studied Tim's face for a moment, then said, "I remember now... You're little Drake from the elementary division. On the third day of school, you drove a luxury car there."
