"Hey, Jason, did you hear on the radio that Batman would appear on the roof of Wayne Tower tonight?"

In the study at Wayne Manor, Dick sat by the desk with a book in his hands and looked over at Jason as he asked. Jason was bent over his writing, scribbling furiously without looking up. "I don't listen to the radio. I have a hard time understanding words conveyed through sound. I still prefer reading newspapers."

"True." Dick tilted his head and smacked his lips. "Gotham's radio stations are full of gangsters trading insults. Oh, they call that kind of uncivilized mutual abuse East Coast rap now. I heard they're even planning a competition to see who can insult people better."

"But that new travel and automotive station is pretty interesting," Dick continued.

"Because Batman is on it?" Jason glanced at Dick.

"I really liked what he said today: Gotham's nights belong to Batman. That was really cool." Dick propped his chin on one hand, his eyelids hanging low as though he were sleepy.

Seeing his expression, Jason shook his head. "Dick, I know the psychological trauma from a while back has kept you from sleeping well, but you need to make yourself rest instead of letting yourself wander around at night. Haven't you noticed how bad your mental state is?"

"Of course he hasn't noticed, and he definitely plans to sneak out again tonight. Maybe he's even planning to stay up until midnight with that bunch of Batman fans waiting for him to appear."

Tim's voice came from the doorway. He walked in carrying a stack of books, passed Dick by the desk, craned his neck to look at what Jason was writing, and let out a surprised exclamation.
