Thomas looked at Aisha's face, which was seventy or eighty percent like Bruce's and fifty or sixty percent like his own. He opened his mouth but found himself unable to say anything.

As a fairly traditional Batman, Thomas could never have imagined Aisha's bizarre and convoluted origins.

Everyone insisted that she had been born by Bruce, so Thomas could only conclude that his son had indeed done something foolish and ended up with a little daughter far too early.

After accepting that fact, Thomas could not help recalling the phone call Schiller had made to him. He had to admit that he had paid the price for his gullibility and recklessness, and that this scam had not begun with the Joker. It had most likely begun with Professor Zoom.

In Thomas's world, The Flash, Barry, had sought him out while pursuing Professor Zoom. Thomas had injured Professor Zoom, but Professor Zoom had promptly taken him and run out of the universe.

While being forcibly abducted by Professor Zoom, Thomas had discovered that Professor Zoom was having some trouble. For some reason, he could not find the destination he had intended to reach. Influenced by some mysterious force, he had accidentally landed in this universe instead.

Batman Thomas had long known that none of these villains could get anything done reliably, but the threat Professor Zoom had left behind still worried him. That man, who was always opposing The Flash, had declared that he would show Thomas what would become of Bruce after his resurrection.

When Thomas had previously sought The Flash Barry's help, he had learned that if Bruce were resurrected, he too would become Batman. Thomas desperately did not want his son to walk that path.

What Professor Zoom had implied was that Bruce had still taken that path.
