The unfamiliar young man in front of them stopped. Night Thrasher and Speedball cautiously closed in. The young man turned around and removed the baseball cap from his face, and Night Thrasher, Speedball, and Pietro all froze.
"Peter Parker???"
Night Thrasher looked at the young man before him in confusion. The genius researcher Peter Parker reported on in the papers was famous to everyone. Everyone knew he had contributed to the Sky Train and Speeder research projects—or rather, he was their greatest contributor.
This young man looked exactly like Peter Parker, yet there were differences. He looked far more mature than Peter, and his bearing was nothing like that of a scholar. He seemed more like a street hero such as Daredevil Matt.
But Speedball had caught on. He remembered Jarvis's recording calling this young man Spider-Man, and said blankly, "Spider-Man is Peter Parker?... He's good at both brains and brawn?"
"I already told you, I'm not Spider-Man!" The unfamiliar young man angrily flung out a hand.
"What exactly is going on? If you're that genius researcher, why were you mixed in with the marchers and attacking police officers?"
"I didn't attack any police officers!" the young man immediately denied. "On the contrary, I wanted to find whoever attacked them and figure out a way to solve this chaos. I wanted to help them."
Night Thrasher opened his mouth. The other man sounded righteous enough, as though he were not lying. But this young man had appeared out of nowhere and had an unclear connection to both Peter Parker and Spider-Man. He seemed dangerous.
Night Thrasher could not make up his mind, and the two sides remained deadlocked in the street. After a while, the young man in the red jacket turned away and said, "If there's nothing else, I'm
