Today was another peaceful day in the universe—or so Eternity thought as he carried his bag to work.

In truth, every moment was peaceful to him. There were too few things in the universe capable of drawing this god's attention. Even exploding stars and dying civilizations were no more than a spring breeze brushing his face... except for anything caused by Schiller.

So, for Eternity, any day without Schiller was a peaceful day. Today was also the day the Living Tribunal had summoned Eternity to a meeting. Eternity had deliberately risen early, intending to arrive at the venue ahead of time and hear about whatever bizarre incidents had recently occurred in the greater universe.

Ever since he had been thrown out and left all alone, Eternity's mindset had shifted from anger and resentment to self-abandonment, and then to enjoying chaos from the sidelines. The main reason for that change was that there was simply too much ridiculous nonsense happening in the greater universe.

Eternity increasingly felt that becoming independent was not so bad. At the last meeting, he had heard that three more colleagues had died on the spot because of the brilliant ideas of the little genius Mister Fantastic Reed in their universes.

Thinking of that, Eternity could not help feeling fortunate. At the very least, Schiller protected the safety of the universe he inhabited—though whenever the universe was safe, Schiller himself was the greatest danger.

Lost in thought, Eternity headed toward the subway entrance that passed through the barrier of the greater universe. But from far away, he noticed that the subway entrance was unusually lively today.
