"Where was I?"
Shang-Chi clutched his dizzy head and got to his feet. Then he realized this scene had happened not long ago, yet strangely, a certain pain and sense of unfamiliarity had left him.
He felt the flow of qi within him was smoother than ever before. Those mysterious powers that had rarely obeyed his control seemed to have embedded themselves in his muscles and bones, becoming part of his instincts. When he sprang up, he unconsciously channeled those powers into his legs and arms, making his movements stronger and more forceful.
Shang-Chi sprang up from the ground in a kip-up, then heard heavy, excessively ragged breathing to his right. Instinctively, he rolled away, dodging a tentacle that lashed toward him.
"Again?!"
Shang-Chi shouted in surprise, only to realize he was not particularly afraid. The light before him clearly told him that it was daytime. The sun shone brightly, and a breeze brushed across his face.
Good heavens, he was actually in the mood to feel the breeze. Shang-Chi complained inwardly, then turned to look at the owner of the tentacle to his right.
Wonderful. It was still a monster he had no idea how to describe, somewhat like a shortened King Cobra. It raised its bloated upper body and whirled the tentacles before its chest like spinning wheels.
Shang-Chi glanced at it, turned, and ran. On the way, he passed Riley, who was climbing up from the ground. With practiced ease, Shang-Chi grabbed Riley by the arm and yanked him up, and the two ran forward together.
"Hey, what's going on?" Riley was still a little dizzy. "Did time reverse? Or did we enter another dream?"
