Gordon, beside the dining table, hurriedly pressed down Barbara's hand. At the same time, he looked at her profile in confusion, sizing her up before asking, "How are you so practiced at drawing a gun? Did you go to the police academy?"
Barbara's stunned thoughts froze for a moment. Instinctively, she answered, "No, Batman trained me."
Gordon's brow furrowed even more deeply. Raising his voice, he said, "Batman trained you to be a cop? What exactly is your relationship with him?!"
"I... No, wait, why is Joker here? Isn't that the biggest problem right now?!"
"The biggest problem is your relationship with Batman!"
Gordon turned and glared at the baffled Bruce. Lowering his voice, he looked at Barbara and said, "Did that damned playboy trick you?!"
"Of course not!" Barbara turned and glared at Gordon as well. She would not allow anyone to slander Batman. Raising her voice, she said, "Batman has never deceived anyone in the Bat-family! I know him!"
"How much could you possibly know about him to claim you know him?! How do you know he doesn't have ulterior motives?" Gordon glanced again at Bruce, who had already sat down, then lowered his voice further and gritted his teeth. "You foolish girl, don't tell me you don't even know that a man asking you to wear skintight clothing is sexual harassment?"
"I wore it willingly!"
"You only think you wore it willingly!"
Gordon looked around, then tugged Barbara by the arm and pulled her farther from the dining table—mainly farther from Bruce. Only once the two of them had nearly moved completely away from the table did Gordon speak.
"Bruce Wayne graduated under Schiller! He could completely scramble your brain and make you obey his every word. Don't tell me you're actually head over heels for him?!"
