"You and Peter probably have more to talk about. He was just thinking of turning into a dinosaur." Stark was nowhere near as tactful or emotionally intelligent. He mocked him directly: "How many years did humanity spend making courtship rituals less barbaric? And here you are, going right back to tribal times."

"This is my fault too." Loki took a sip of the wine and inhaled sharply at the spice. He hissed, then continued, "I had already worked out how to brush Frigga off. I would probably say that I only admired the strong, but as you know, there weren't many people in all of Asgard who could be called strong apart from Thor, who was already married."

"Frigga didn't approve of me marrying a human, so all of you were excluded from the pool of choices. The remaining Asgardians were fairly traditional and not particularly clever. With a few tricks, no one could beat me, and then Frigga would have nothing to say."

"Instead, she wanted to hold a tournament for you." Schiller sat back down. After thinking for a moment, he said, "Seriously, have you never considered your own feelings on the matter?"

"I don't have expectations for family relationships." Loki's answer was exceptionally honest. He said, "You have to find a partner who is exactly right, spend exactly the right amount of time together, and have several children who are exactly right. Either everything happens to fit together perfectly by sheer coincidence, or you spend most of your life maintaining it, just so the love you gain can barely outweigh the irritation caused by everyday trivialities."
