Tonight, Gotham's moonlight was exceptionally bright. The dark clouds seemed to have suddenly found mercy in the night and left the place where they had lingered for so long. Beneath the moon, the silhouettes of skyscrapers resembled a piano's black keys, while the two figures leaping endlessly between them played a nocturne with a pounding rhythm.
The long-limbed Spider-Man vaulted gracefully and nimbly across the gaps between one building after another, swinging continuously between skyscrapers on his webs like a bird dancing through a storm.
The powerfully built Batman unleashed unimaginable strength from his muscular frame. Every landing struck like a sledgehammer. When he spread his bat wings and glided between the buildings, deep shadows spilled outward, filled with an indescribable terror.
"Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh."
Several black, barely visible Batarangs flew past Spider-Man's arms and ears, but not one hit him. Spider-Man was like a perfect aerial acrobat, stretching his limbs and assuming the most precise, graceful evasive posture within less than a fraction of a second.
A huge shadow swept over his head. Batman's cloak spread wide, its bat wings completely enveloping Spider-Man's figure. Refusing to be outdone, Spider-Man raised the arm bearing his web-shooter as he swung up again on a webline. The sticky web pellet shot out, but when it touched Batman's cloak, it slid off like a raindrop from an eave.
What the hell? Spider-Man thought. What kind of material is his cloak made of? Why can't even Mr. Stark's improved web pellets stick to it? Or is there something wrong with this city's rainwater?
A similarly surprised thought appeared in Batman's mind. Whose subordinate was this kid? It was one thing to dodge Batarangs as if he could see the future, but why couldn't the Batarangs Batman had only recently upgraded cut through the webs
