That night, Spider-Man climbed through a window into the electronic information archives of the Gotham City Public Library. Using one of the computers there, he looked up information on the chemical plant where Joker worked.

The plant was called ACE Chemical Plant and belonged to Wayne Enterprises. While looking into Wayne Enterprises, Spider-Man discovered that its current leader, Bruce Wayne, was the one funding Batman's vigilante activities.

Spider-Man instinctively felt that something was off, but since it was not the focus of his investigation, he let it slide without looking further into it.

Spider-Man merely gathered everything on the Web about Bruce Wayne attending various events, as well as his gossip-column scandals. From that, he deduced Bruce Wayne's approximate daily routine and recent schedule.

Picking a time when Bruce Wayne had just finished an important meeting and returned to his office to review reports, Spider-Man went straight to Bruce Wayne's office.
