Superman was still looking around for the massive city's silhouette when Batman's attention was drawn to the enormous exposed labyrinth ahead.
It was indeed hard to miss. A colossal maze that seemed to stretch on forever would be a landmark wherever it appeared. Batman claimed Gotham as his city, so discovering that there were still parts of it he did not understand shocked him even more than Gotham flying into the sky.
Suddenly, another flash of inspiration born from his astonishing intellect struck him. Never mind what the maze was for—could it be put to use?
At times, geniuses thought alike. Marvel's scientists had decided to abandon their research into the source of the Dark Force and directly exploit its practicality. Batman was thinking the same way now.
Although he preferred getting to the bottom of things most of the time, nothing posed a greater threat than Darkseid right now. After some thought, Batman reluctantly suppressed his suspicion and turned to Superman. "Can you figure out a way to cover this thing?"
"Huh?"
About ten minutes later, the fledgling team of The Seven—Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, The Flash, and Aquaman—were all standing beneath a road sign at a Gotham intersection.
"My God, I never imagined it would be this spectacular. Batman, you built such a huge maze under Gotham? Are you serious?" The Flash could not help asking.
Wonder Woman sighed. "You can tell from the wear on the floor material that Batman didn't build it. This thing might be older than his grandfather."
Aquaman frowned as he walked to the maze's edge and looked down. "Something's wrong. The water here is saturated with a dark aura. There isn't the slightest trace of life in it. This is very wrong..."
"I think I know who built it." Batman
