Selene stood in a sailboat shack not far from Gotham Beach while Maggie lowered her head to count the money and tally up the day's earnings. All the little accessories they had made the previous day had sold out. After costs, they had netted over twenty dollars.
Just as Selene was gulping down an ice-cold soda, Maggie stuffed a roll of bills into her hand. Selene was about to say something when Maggie said, "Don't say anything that'll make me so jealous I want to push you into the sea. I know it isn't much, but if you want to turn down Bruce when he tries to load you up with a pile of stuff, you need some confidence behind you."
Selene immediately leaned over and planted a hard kiss on Maggie, then said with a grin, "All right, I know you don't like me being a thief. I haven't done that in a long time either. Earn money through honest work, right?"
Maggie pushed her away with some disgust and said, "This is to keep him from saying, 'Without me, you'd only be a thief,' someday when the two of you have a fight."
"Don't worry. If he dares say that to me, I'll scratch his face to ribbons." Though Selene said that, she still sighed.
After parting with Maggie, Selene caught a ride with the sailboat shack's boss. But Wayne Manor was not entirely on his route, so Selene had him stop at an intersection between the South Side and the East Side, then walked toward Wayne Manor herself.
