The reason Eddie wanted to descend directly from the outer wall to the ground was not only because there might be too many monsters inside the building. It was also because he had noticed that the ward he had landed in was on the side of the hospital's Inpatient Department. Below it was a small grove rarely visited by anyone, with no zombies in sight and complete silence—the best possible landing spot.

As he tied the rope, Eddie could not help recalling the zombie whose head Venom had bitten clean off, yet which had still staggered back to its feet.

Its body had continued acting on instinct, lunging at him. If Venom had not hurled it away, those sharp claws would definitely have gotten him.

Eddie became even more certain that he had made the right choice. Fighting monsters that could still move even after being decapitated was an absolutely terrible idea. No amount of Symbiote matter would be enough for Venom to burn through.

More importantly, Eddie knew Venom could be hurt. The dense skin formed by rearranging his matter was not completely invincible. It only seemed unharmed by human weapons because he had enough Symbiote matter to replace whatever was destroyed immediately.

To protect the host beneath the mask, Venom had to sacrifice some of his Symbiote matter to offset an opponent's attacks.

When food was plentiful, Symbiote matter would naturally regenerate. But if they went too long without replenishing their food, whatever was consumed could not be restored.

Venom had obtained huge amounts of energy several times before, and he had converted most of it into Symbiote matter. If Gray Mist did not count as one of the Symbiotes, then Venom was currently the most powerful Symbiote.
