Secret Wars could be called the most important event in Marvel's history, because it completely reshaped the Marvel Universe and created the New Multiverse as it existed today.

No matter how great the crisis had been in the past, the superheroes had always managed to avert disaster. Yet in this event, surprisingly, the heroes had accomplished almost nothing. Perhaps their opponents had simply been too powerful.

Schiller did not know whether the Beyond-Realm Gods' deployment of Molecule Men this time was preparation for their true move later on, or whether they intended to go all out and destroy the universe immediately. But he understood that this might be the most powerful opponent he had ever encountered in the Marvel Universe.

In his earliest characterization, the Beyonder's abilities had been somewhat like early Superman's: whatever he wished for, he could have. Any ability he wanted could be his, and he had no morals. Most importantly, he had no morals.

With neither morals nor attachments, he could act without restraint. Schiller's usual methods of competing over moral bottom lines or using what an opponent cared about to control him were useless. The only thing left to compete over was who was crazier.
