This time, the bus drove for an exceptionally long time. Perhaps it was meant to give them time to rest. The road passed over no rough terrain, and the vehicle remained steady the entire way. Everyone aboard grew drowsy.
Ordinary people would certainly have been unable to sleep peacefully after the previous dream incident. Feeling sleepy yet unable to sleep was the most torturous thing.
But the four people on the bus had no such concerns. They closed their eyes and took a short rest. None of them particularly needed sleep to replenish their energy, and after recovering most of their strength, they gradually woke up.
Batman and Natasha showed no changes, but Bale-Batman and Schiller seemed somewhat different.
Bale-Batman appeared much more relaxed. He was still wearing the light-colored suit he had gotten from Nihrelet Manor. He took off his jacket, loosened his shirt collar, rolled his slightly stiff neck, and let out a long breath.
Natasha, seated in front of him, turned around and rested her chin on the back of the seat. Raising an eyebrow, she said, "You're in pretty good shape, huh?"
"I haven't felt this good in a long time." Bale-Batman curled one corner of his mouth upward and winked at Natasha, clearly implying something.
Natasha immediately flashed a brilliant smile. The female agent pursed her lips and beckoned Bale-Batman over. The two moved to a row of seats nearby and began whispering to each other about who knew what.
When Schiller woke up, Batman noticed something was wrong. He came over, sat beside Schiller, turned to look at him, and cautiously called, "Greed?"
Schiller yawned, nodded, tugged at his slightly too-tight shirt collar, and sighed. "I said I wasn't coming up, but they insisted on making me come up."
