After saying just two sentences, Batman noticed that the man opposite him had frozen. He was not distracted by anything in the real world; it was more like he had suddenly thought of something and drifted into a daze.
This was highly abnormal. Batman frowned more deeply. Even an ordinary person would not lose focus so easily in an environment full of danger. If he started letting his thoughts wander the moment he met a stranger and failed to pay attention to changes around him, how could he possibly have survived this long?
Unless there was something in his head.
"You idiot, snap out of it. He's already noticed." Venom's furious, anxious voice rang through Eddie's mind. "He's found me. Don't try to deny it. Just don't answer him."
"Who are you talking to?" Batman asked.
"That's none of your business." After taking two steps back, Eddie said, "You have a fragment, right? I got my share too, and there isn't a second one. You'd better stay away from me."
After saying that, Eddie tried to back toward the corner and turn away, but Batman stopped him. "You saw the magic circle."
Eddie's body visibly stiffened. He shook his head and said, "I don't know what you're talking about."
"The magic circle carved into the wall over there. You saw it, and you saw something else too."
Eddie glared at Batman. "I told you, I don't know what you're talking about. You'd better stop bothering me. My teammates will be here soon."
He still tried to leave, but Batman said, "You have no teammates. You're alone."
Eddie had just opened his mouth when Batman cut him off. "There's another life-form inside you. You count as two individuals, so you alone make up a team. You have no other help."
