Schiller then learned of the glorious exploits of the Soviet man who had later taken over his body through Lucifer's resentment-filled account.

It began like this: in one universe, the Soviet Union followed the historical trajectory of most universes and dissolved in the winter of 1991. On the day of its collapse, a certain officer—or perhaps a scientist with military rank—killed himself.

But by a remarkable coincidence, at that same moment, Lucifer, having realized he could never escape the destiny of an Angel, decided to smash the pot after it had broken. He gave up completely and let his consciousness dissipate.

That meant all his beautiful memories with God would disappear along with it, and God could not accept that.

For some reason, perhaps because he could not directly erase that destiny, he sent the soul of a child destined to become entangled with Lucifer to an exceedingly distant otherworld.

A body without a soul had no one to control it and would inevitably die. Lucifer had been shocked by God's act at the time, and he did not know whether the child had parents, or whether they could accept the child's death.

So he took some belated remedial measures, randomly dragged over some unlucky soul and stuffed it into the body. That soul belonged to the Soviet man who had committed suicide.

And so, the most terrifying thing happened: a soul perhaps carrying the greatest resentment in the world took control of that body.

According to Lucifer, a Superpower User's abilities existed on both the spiritual and physical levels. In other words, Schiller's departed soul had taken some of the power with it, but some remained within the shell.

Thus, instead of receiving the unlucky man's tearful prayers of gratitude, Lucifer got two thunderous punches from a battle-hardened Russian.
