The disastrous night had come to an end.

Dawn was Gotham's brightest hour. The clouds had not yet had time to obscure the sky, so a vivid, blazing red sun hung at the horizon, too bright to look at, like freshly beating hearts.

Batman took Scarecrow and Penguin to the Gotham Police Department, while Peter was responsible for bringing back the group from the underground cold storage facility in Bludhaven.

Before Peter left, Jason, still inside the cage, called out to him. Peter turned back to look at him and said, "Sorry, but you can't come out yet. The Symbiote needs time to repair your body."

"Get that thing out of me." Jason said hoarsely, "I don't need it to—"

"That's Batman's order." Peter shook his head. "He wants that thing to heal your wounds, but he doesn't trust an alien lifeform to run around outside the cage. So I'm afraid you'll have to stay here until the repairs are complete."

"And as you can see, I have no way to change his decision. I don't have the cage key either. The Symbiote will provide all the energy you need, so you won't feel hungry or thirsty. Maybe after you sleep, it'll all be over."

"Batman's lapdog, huh?" Jason stared at Peter. "You do everything he says. Would you kill for him?"

"I don't kill." Peter turned away, adjusting the gear around his wrist. "Usually, I don't argue with him, because there's no point. Whatever he tells me to do, I do."

Jason's lips pressed into a white line. He shook the cage bars hard again. Watching Peter turn to leave, he finally took a deep breath, lowered his head, and asked, "Has Batman really changed? Because of me?"
