Jason stared, dumbfounded, as Bruce put on his coat and flung open the balcony door.
By the time Jason rushed toward the balcony, Bruce had already jumped onto the neighboring balcony and was making his way down the railing on its right side toward the balconies below.
The entire sequence took perhaps ten seconds. Jason did not know who lived downstairs, but he knew he was probably in deep trouble.
Jason hesitated, wanting to follow, but he had a problem of his own: Bruce moved too fast. His ability to walk without making a sound was nowhere near as practiced as Batman's. If he took the same route Batman had, he would be spotted as soon as he reached the first balcony.

The other agents advanced on him with their guns, but they did not dare fire. Jason used the opportunity to slip into the stairwell of the emergency exit and raced downstairs.
Jason had argued with Batman plenty of times, but there was one upside to that: some things only became clear through debate. At their most excessive, Batman had used up his entire weekly quota of words arguing with Jason. That also meant they had communicated more than anyone else and understood each
