Superman stood in the darkness, his entire body giving off a metallic gleam. His muscles were taut like a statue forged from steel, and every bulging line of muscle spoke of his fury at that moment.

Batman was not wearing his Batsuit, but his figure standing in the darkness of the corridor resembled a phantom in the night sky. His gaze was deep and cold, carrying a trace of bloody killing intent.

The guardians of two cities stood in the narrow hotel corridor as cold wind howled through the open windows. The instant Heat Vision lit up, Batman became a black bolt of lightning, charging fearlessly through the shadows beyond the lasers' reach toward Superman.

Superman's fist carried the power of Thunder. The instant Batman came close, it was already aimed at his weak point. But Batman used the corner of the wall to conceal his path, deftly evading Superman's attack and twisting through the air before landing lightly like a bat.

Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh.

Another three Batarangs flew out. Superman stood unmoving like a mountain, but his posture showed no sign of backing down.

Just as Batman closed in once more, Superman abruptly reached out, seized Batman's wrist at a speed too fast for the eye to follow, and hurled him straight away.

The tremendous boom of a sonic blast woke nearly every guest in the hotel. That had only been one of Superman's bursts of speed. He flashed to Batman's side, grabbed him before he could react, and flung him toward the other side of the hotel.

Batman lay facedown on the floor, breathing heavily. His iron will let him force himself back up despite three broken ribs, a broken collarbone, and even a fractured leg bone in one calf.

"You're venting your anger." Batman
