In Nick Fury's office at S.H.I.E.L.D., a portal suddenly appeared, and the anxious Silk emerged inside Nick's office.
"Nick, Nick! I can't sense Spider-Man's life signs anymore, I..."
Silk didn't find Nick, but she did see a communicator flashing red on his desk.
Silk hesitated for a moment, but still walked over. She knew it was only a backup communicator. Nick should have others on him, and he had definitely heard it already. In that case, she wasn't eavesdropping.
So Silk stepped forward and pressed the play button. A familiar voice came from within.
"Hello, Director Fury. I'm Spider-Man. Through my communication device, you should be able to identify which universe's Spider-Man I am. Now I need to tell you something: I'm about to die..."
Silk quietly listened to everything Spider-Man had said. She took a deep breath, closed her eyes, and braced herself against the desk with one hand, feeling weak and powerless.
She knew it. She knew that if Spider-Man wasn't willing, then who could possibly kill him?
It wasn't that simple at all, Silk thought. Nick Fury did possess part of the Spider Totem's authority, but he actually had no way to choose who became Spider-Man. Otherwise, with the Director's habit of drafting people all over the world, wouldn't he have bitten three billion Spider-Men?
The Spider Totem was Spider-Man's totem. While it chose Spider-Man, it was also controlled by the collective will of the Spider-Men. Otherwise, Nick could never have obtained that authority.
Silk clenched her fists tightly and bit her lip until it bled, but in the end, she let out a long sigh and sent the recording to the Spider APP group.
The Spider-Men erupted.
