Barbatos had been very annoyed lately.
There was no need to elaborate too much on his origins. In short, as the Dark Dragon, his main job at this stage was invading universes—or rather, invading universes had been his job at every stage.
Not long ago, while he had been diligently invading a universe, he suddenly felt an enormous Alarm Clock ringing beside his ear, making his head buzz.
That day, he encountered a strange being named Nyarlathotep.
Barbatos knew neither who Nyarlathotep was, where he came from, what abilities he possessed, nor even whether that was truly his name.
Although the Dark Dragon was trapped in the Dark Multiverse, he had once been a great general under the Third. He was not so incompetent that he could not investigate someone's background. He had investigated, but found nothing. It seemed this fellow did not belong to his world at all.
Had something from beyond the Origin Wall slipped in?
That had been Barbatos's initial guess. But logically speaking, if the Origin Wall could no longer block things, then more than just Nyarlathotep should have entered. That meant he had been hiding in this universe all along and had only recently revealed himself.
And if he had sought Barbatos out the moment he appeared, what did he want?
Barbatos spent a long time figuring that out. In the end, he discovered that Nyarlathotep wanted nothing. He was just wandering around.
After Barbatos discovered Nyarlathotep's power on that enormous Alarm Clock, he did have some friction with Nyarlathotep. More precisely, Barbatos wanted to fight him unilaterally, but he could not hit him, and Nyarlathotep did not strike back.
The two exchanged and clashed with some energy, but in the end, it was a whole lot of fighting over nothing, with no major consequences.
