In Darkseid's palace on Apokolips, the supreme ruler of Apokolips, the all-powerful Emperor Darkseid, furrowed his brow deeply as he repeatedly pressed the communicator's button, listening to a transmission from the depths of distant space.

The scream abruptly cut off. Darkseid's expression grew increasingly grave. At the end of the recording was a strange sound wave that was difficult to detect, like some kind of whisper, but even Desaad, the wisest commander under his command, could not understand the language.
