The Mansion Market by the docks had only been open for a short while. Thanks to its exceptionally favorable location and the already considerable foot traffic on Green Street, it welcomed its first wave of customers just days after opening.
The entire market was packed shoulder to shoulder. Queues stretched along the edges of the crowd, dense and seemingly endless.
Bruce arrived at the table carrying two cups of coconut juice and sat down. Selene fiddled with the wallet in her hand, took a sip through her straw, and suddenly said, "So she's Talia."
"What is it?"
"Seeing her face reminded me that I think I've met her before. Honestly, she's pretty beautiful. No wonder Little Pam liked her." Selene spun the wallet around her slender fingers, drawing Bruce's gaze toward it.
"Wait here. I'm going to have a word with her." Selene flashed a sly smile, slipped the wallet into her bag, and vanished into the crowd with a sidestep.
Talia was using her height advantage to scan the crowd when she quickly spotted a vaguely familiar figure flash past. Her eyes were sharp as a hawk's, her movements swift as lightning, and she immediately gave chase.
Since the market was not far from the beach, many women were dressed rather lightly. Selene's crop top was hardly conspicuous. Talia weaved through the crowd, but quickly lost sight of her target.
Then she saw a dark shadow dart past her side. Instinctively, she reached for her waist pouch. Great. Her phone was gone too.
Talia was not particularly good at dealing with an environment like this. Assassins killed with planning; they could wait at a target location for months, even a year, until their target was alone.
