The sudden knock at the door drew all three of their attention. Schiller froze for a moment before remembering. He said, "Find somewhere to sit first. I'll look at your files later. We're having a group meeting today, so it can double as a welcome party."
Charles glanced down at his watch. It was ten o'clock at night. What normal person held a group meeting at ten o'clock at night?
A great many people came in. The ones at the front looked like Schiller's interns, while those behind them were probably supervising physicians from the department.
"Everyone, have a seat." Schiller moved a chair in front of his desk. The two senior male interns and one senior female intern at the front brought over stools for everyone, while some of the supervising physicians took off their coats, some searched for pens, and some went to the water dispenser to fill their cups.
Charles noticed one person who seemed completely out of place in the room. He was an older blond man with rough, weather-beaten skin, and he did not look like an office-bound doctor.
"Thank you all very much for coming." Schiller blew on the hot water in his cup and said, "Today's group meeting is mainly to introduce the new member of our department."
"The time is indeed a little late, but several teachers and I have lectures early tomorrow morning. You can all get some proper rest. Just hand me yesterday's internship records before eleven tomorrow morning."
