The Shop selling bathtub ducklings was clearly old. You could tell from the window display—it was the most old-fashioned kind of gift store. Inside, shelves lined the walls, while a chaotic jumble of counters filled the middle, all piled high with every kind of gift.
That sort of clutter should have felt lively and homey. Peter liked browsing gift stores like this, but in the past, he had always felt a little like a thief when he did. He could not afford most of the gifts, and he worried about running into classmates who would laugh at him.
But today, he felt a little more at ease. He had even come in excitedly, because Jason was following behind him. That guy was stronger than even Thompson.
Spider-Man secretly thought that if they ran into any classmates this time, they definitely would not dare call him a poor bastard—at least not to his face.

Jason recognized him at a glance as the Batman from his universe. All Batmen looked very similar, but there were subtle differences in the details. The Robins of every universe could distinguish them quite well, and Jason was especially good at it. He thought the Batman of his universe had more sharply defined features than the others.
Both of them cried out at once, but the man did not react. He did not even stand up the moment
