After all these years, the Gotham Police Department had improved in more ways than just having sufficient manpower and proper equipment. Their technical methods had advanced quite a bit too. At the very least, they were much better at cutting than these robbers. The equipment they used to saw through the tree made no sound, and the robbers did not realize the tree had been cut through until the instant it fell.

He looked toward the door in despair, but Schiller unexpectedly gestured for him to get down. The robber reacted quickly enough. Rather than crouching, he dropped flat on the spot. The Sniper Bullet nearly grazed his scalp as it flew past.

The robber scrambled out the door. Schiller still had his gun trained on him as he said, "Now go tell your accomplices downstairs to rush out the back door once they've got the money. Follow the area blocked by that tree and get into the sewer beneath the canopy."

The robber was not professional, but he was not stupid either. He knew that since the sniper had missed, the police would certainly launch an assault immediately to keep the robbers from killing the hostages in anger. If they did not run now, they would never get away, because they had not taken any hostages at all.

Sure enough, Gordon did not panic or lose heart after the shot missed. He merely took out his radio and said, "Launch the assault immediately. Forget the vault for now. Get to the second floor and rescue the hostages!!"
