Around noon the next day, Schiller and Martin returned to the secondhand market. Besides needing to buy more fishing line and rope, which they had nearly run out of again, Schiller also planned to pick up some fishing gear.

He felt there was no way he could hold his housewarming party inside the house. That huge pit would not be filled anytime soon, all the tools were scattered everywhere, and more importantly, the bloody smell would take a while to fade. The refrigerator was broken and had not been replaced, while the freezer he had brought from the manor had nowhere to go. Sorting out all that mess would take far too much time.

But one reason Schiller had chosen this house in the first place was the broad lawn and lake behind it. Though they were technically public green spaces, their location meant they were practically his private property.

So why not throw a lawn party?

When Schiller had dumped the body, he had found a rather nice patch of open ground by the lake. It was not far from the forest and very level. At noon, the dappled shadows cast across the grass by sunlight filtering through the trees were beautiful as well, making it perfect for picnics and camping.

Schiller had also looked over the lake and found it full of fish. He had previously seen several neighbors fishing downstream, and their catches had been quite good.

The United States and Canada were both paradises for lure fishing. Their waterways were abundant, and most fish could be caught with lures. There were good fish to catch in nearly every season, so the United States could be called the country with the highest proportion of fishing enthusiasts.
