Schiller was interested in Sandman because he felt that Sandman's structure somewhat resembled Gray Mist. Although the Gray Mist factor was far more advanced than sand, there was no denying that the two were quite similar in form.

Precisely because sand was much more intuitive than the Gray Mist factor, Schiller could more clearly observe the life structure of this type of creature.
