Strange looked at Schiller with a puzzled expression.
"Sorry, ma'am." Schiller suddenly stood and said to a female student sitting in the back row, "We need to discuss certain details of a confidential Medical Project, but we have nowhere else to go for the moment. Could you please change seats?"
Strange thought Schiller's phrasing was somewhat odd, especially the part about having nowhere else to go for the moment. It sounded very strange.
The girl froze slightly. She was now facing Strange, while Schiller was Facing Away from Strange, so Strange could not see Schiller's expression.
"I'm truly sorry, ma'am. This is because I made a small mistake, and I need to explain it quickly, but I can't risk exposing the project's contents..."
"Oh, goodness, go ahead and talk. I'll leave right away."
Schiller crossed himself over his chest in thanks. The girl walked out, then looked back halfway through with concern in her eyes, and that concern did not seem feigned at all.
Schiller turned back and sat down. Strange asked him, "What did you do?"
"Just that." Schiller smiled at him and said, "No one in this world can blame a victim, and most people cannot tell the difference between moral concern and emotional concern. It is far too easy to confuse the two."
"You were playing a victim?"
"Only showing that sort of temperament to certain people," Schiller said. "Make them think they are your only savior."
"Sure is unhealthy." Strange could barely suppress the sarcasm in his tone.
But after a pause, he still asked, "Doesn't begging others cost you your dignity? Wouldn't it make people think you're pathetic?"
"I said, only toward certain people."
"How can you ensure she won't tell anyone?"
"Would you like someone who goes around saying bad things about others?"
