Strange was a somewhat peculiar man. He didn't get along with most people in the world, and there were certain people he found especially intolerable. So whether in school or at work, he had basically always been a loner.
The Stranges of other universes at least had girlfriends. Ever since this universe's Strange had been dragged into Schiller's grand immoral enterprise, he had even fewer people he could truly talk to.
Loki was one of the few people Strange acknowledged as a friend. Their personalities got along surprisingly well, to the point where they could work together for long periods without getting sick of each other. That was exceptionally rare.
Put nicely, Strange's personality was called focused. Put bluntly, it was extreme. Those he loved, he wanted alive; those he hated, he wanted dead. No matter what, he could never warm to people he disliked, while everything done by people he liked seemed right.
Though he knew this Loki was not yet the friend he would later know, Strange was still unusually enraged. Were Asgardians seriously this outrageous? This was their prince! Even some powerless, sidelined royal prince in a constitutional monarchy on Earth wouldn't be reduced to such a miserable state! What the hell was this???
