"What did he do to you?" Schiller asked Loki across from him. Only the two of them remained nearby now, because Stark had gone off to mock Strange again. Strange had left with a flick of his sleeve, and Stark had departed too once he got bored.
"He didn't do anything." Loki still seemed distracted. "He didn't turn into a cruel madman. He just became a normal person."
"He imprisoned you?"
"More or less." Loki twisted his fingers together. "I kept slipping out of his control, and after I did something outrageous as usual one time, he put me under house arrest."
"For how long?"
"Twelve hundred years." Loki took a deep breath. "Until he became the God King. By then, Asgard had completely forgotten I existed."
"Only he remembered you."
"Yes, I knew that, but he acted as though he had forgotten me completely too." Loki finally showed a trace of pain. "He never came to see me."
"That isn't so long that an Asgardian would find it utterly unbearable." Schiller thought for a moment. "Perhaps the equivalent of ten years?"
"But he never came to see me." Loki raised his voice. "We had been by each other's side from the moment we could remember, yet this time, over twelve hundred years, he didn't come to see me even once. He was insane!"
"You're the insane one." Schiller looked Loki in the eye. "You always believed he would come. Only hope could make you suffer."
"Of course he would." Loki's eyes widened. "He couldn't possibly give up on me just like that. It made no sense!"
"Maybe he only wanted to teach you a small lesson. Maybe he was completely disappointed in you. Or perhaps, more likely, he was busy with his great undertaking as God King and had
