In S.H.I.E.L.D.'s office, Nick Fury stared unblinkingly at the computer screen, his hands folded before him. The cold light from the display reflected in his eyes, giving him an air of solemn indifference.

Natasha knocked and walked in. Nick only glanced up at her before returning his gaze to the screen. Natasha placed the documents in her hands on the desk, and without even shifting his eyes, Nick reached out and took them.

After quickly skimming the contents at the top of the file, Nick slammed a hand against the armrest of his chair. "That's it."

Natasha stood straight with her arms folded. "It's confirmed that Schiller was from your era, right? But a lot of the information in these files is vague."

"Of course it is." Nick's mouth turned downward as he stared at the documents in his hands. "It's hard to find anything from that era with precise descriptions, because too many secrets had to be covered up."

"Who exactly was he?" Natasha walked to the front of the desk and looked at Nick. "What role did he play in that era?"

"He was... the 'Doctor.'"

In the winter of January 1945, an atmosphere of tension hung over every street and alley in Berlin. Squads of soldiers swept past like flocks of crows, but their old arrogance was nowhere to be seen. People had long sensed what the future held for this country.

The dark clouds were about to disperse. No one knew whether the gaps between them would reveal the first ray of light or an even heavier catastrophe. This nation would pay an unimaginable price for this utterly lost war. Most had already resigned themselves to it, but some were still struggling stubbornly.
