Seeing Nick's expression, Schiller understood everything, but he showed no sign of remorse whatsoever, all smiles and wisecracks.
"My attitude is very serious," Nick said.
"I wasn't trying to joke around either."
"I mean the space station." Nick rolled his eyes. "This is ordinary people's first step toward independence. You are absolutely forbidden from pulling any grand conspiracies again..."
"If you think that of me, I'd be terribly hurt."
"Then stay hurt." Nick showed no mercy. "You have to promise me you won't cause trouble. You owe me that much."
"It's not impossible." Schiller said, "You know, I've never liked actively causing trouble..."
"So you like causing trouble passively."
"If you insist on putting it that way, there's nothing I can do." Schiller decided to play dumb to the bitter end. "I can only promise that as long as no one provokes me, I definitely won't..."
