Schiller glanced at the Room 1913 doorplate he had placed on the table beside him. It was still in his hand now, so how could it have appeared opposite Room 1900?

Schiller stepped outside again to examine the corridor layout. There were six rooms on each side. Logically, there should have been three rooms on each wall, with even-numbered rooms closer to the elevators and odd-numbered rooms opposite them. Both sides were arranged that way.

In the middle of the left corridor, Room 1910 had originally faced Room 1913. But because he had now swapped Room 1913 for Room 1900, Room 1910 was now opposite Room 1900.

Then why, in Peter's timeline, had Room 1913 ended up opposite Room 1900 instead?

Schiller looked down at the doorplate in his hand and realized that he might have been the one who had switched the doorplates.

But why would he have done that?

He had always had a premonition that Room 1913 was extremely dangerous. The banging sounds from inside while he had been removing the doorplate had confirmed it. Schiller saw no reason to release that room now and add another danger to what had been a relatively peaceful corridor.

Since there were basically no clues on his side, Schiller decided to remotely direct Peter's investigation over there. He had Peter start a video call, then observed the corridor through Peter's eyes while instructing him what to do.

Schiller first told Peter to return to his room. But as he passed the elevator, it happened to arrive on the nineteenth floor with a ding. Schiller's heart reflexively skipped a beat, but it turned out someone had pressed the elevator earlier, causing it to stop there. Nothing came out of the elevator.
