Schiller gently lifted the curtain and saw a car parked below the hotel. The doorman took a business card from the driver, and before long, there was a knock on the door of Room 1905.
Schiller followed the attendant downstairs. Just as he rounded the stairwell corner, he bumped into someone. He had only turned back instinctively to look, but his steps suddenly froze. Standing on the stairs, he stared at the person's back as cold sweat ran down the back of his neck.
That back looked exactly like the guest from Room 1903.
The attendant walking ahead saw that he had stopped and could only pause to ask with concern, "Sir? Sir???"
Schiller hesitated for a moment, ignored the attendant's calls, and strode after the figure. But by the time he reached the hallway, there was no trace of that man.
Schiller rose slightly onto his toes and charged toward Room 1903.
Bang bang bang! Bang bang bang!!
"Open the door!"
Schiller shouted as he pounded on the door.
The door suddenly opened, and a woman looked at Schiller in confusion. "What is it? What happened?"
Schiller craned his neck to look inside. The woman immediately became wary. "What are you doing? Leave now, or I'll call the police!"
"Oh, ma'am, I don't mean anything by it. The smoke alarm on this floor just went off. Do you smoke? I'm worried there might be a fire..."
The woman clearly did not believe him, but she still said, "No, I don't smoke. Neither my husband nor I smoke..."
"Then your husband..."
"What is it, Doris?!" A rough voice came from inside the room. A tall man walked over, looked at Schiller outside the door, and asked, "What is it? Is there a problem?"
Schiller took two steps back. "No, nothing.
