Batman walked through the gates of Wayne Manor.
The Wayne Manor of this world was strange. It stood on a towering isolated island, and aside from the Wayne Manor at its peak and a whole network of winding mountain roads, there was nothing else on the island.
As Schiller walked up the road, he said, "I bet Batman is pretty confused right now."
"Confused about what?"
"About why the Batman of this universe would put his home in a place like this. How much faith does he have in the continental shelf beneath this island to be so sure that, no matter what disaster strikes, Wayne Manor won't become a second Atlantis?"
"I think the scenery here is nice." Tim looked at the sunset over the distant sea and said, "And it's very quiet too. Like a secluded paradise away from the world."
"That's exactly the problem. No Batman would want to live in a paradise cut off from the world." Schiller said, "My occupational habit is about to kick in, so you'd better bear with me."
Deadpool handed him a soda and said, "I've heard your name from the Spider-Man in our universe. He had some even more astonishing things to say about your astonishing fees. For Spider-Man, that was practically a complaint."
"My honor." Schiller smiled.
"Actually, I don't think wanting to live apart from the world necessarily means someone is escaping reality. Reality is far too broad a concept. It may contain many things they still cherish; it's simply that their disgust for certain things outweighs their attachment to those things, so they want to leave."
"What do you think this Batman cherishes? And what is he running from?" Tim asked thoughtfully.
"Most people can't think that question through clearly. I imagine Batman is the same. He
