Arkham Knight wiped the blood from his face, let out a soft breath, loaded another round into his gun, then turned to Doctor Strange and asked, "How are you?"

"Not much Magic Power left. Maybe we should consider retreating." Doctor Strange looked somewhat disheveled. His face was paler than before, and his fingertips trembled slightly—a sign of exhaustion.

Bodies littered the ground before them, all criminals from the Apocalypse Corps base who had been turned into vampires. Ordinarily, they would have been excellent material for necromancy, but Doctor Strange had not raised them.

That was naturally because of the monster prowling through the Apocalypse Corps base's main hall. He possessed the highest-priority control over vampires. Even if a vampire corpse had already been controlled by a necromancer, he could still use Blood Magic to drain the blood from it and form new blood puppets.

Looking in through the entrance, they could see a half-man, half-bat monster pacing through the hall. He stood over four meters tall, covered in black fur, with powerful upper limbs and shorter-than-normal but equally muscular legs.

He had a bat's head, but his eyes and fangs gleamed blood-red. A pair of enormous bat wings stretched from his back, while shadowy energy curled around his arms and neck.

When Arkham Knight and Doctor Strange arrived, he had not yet escaped. The two of them had been dealing with the transformed vampires outside, making enough noise that one wall of the hall was smashed open, allowing the creature to get out.

They had known then that Constantine had set them up, but worried that the thing might escape, they had no choice but to take it on.
