"Willpower is actually a very broad concept. Simply put, it is the quality of making up one's mind toward a certain goal and being able to mobilize every emotion and thought to achieve that resolve." Schiller's voice echoed through the empty theater. Though he was explaining somewhat dry concepts, his varied, rhythmic delivery made him easy to listen to.
"This concept also involves other aspects, such as self-control, mental stability, coherence of thought, focus, and so on..."
"Batman lacks none of the above. He can make decisions extremely quickly, possesses intense focus on his goals, has smooth, clear thinking when analyzing their pros and cons, and has the perseverance to carry them through to the end. But even possessing all of that only puts one within the realm of ordinary people. The true power of will goes far beyond this."
"It is difficult for someone to believe in a completely impossible goal and persistently strive toward it. For instance, almost no one would believe they had four eyes, nor would anyone genuinely think their head was square, because these are obvious facts. Even if they had imagined what it might be like if that happened, for example, you can try imagining it yourselves..."
Very soon, two more eyes appeared on Victor's forehead. He said, "Like this?"
"That's right. You have your rich imagination to thank for that, but let me tell you: you do not have four eyes."
With a bang, the two extra eyes on Victor's forehead vanished. He froze for a moment, and Schiller explained, "This is the contest of wills within a dream. You imagined yourself with four eyes, while I told you that you did not have them. At a certain moment, your imagination was shattered, so the corresponding form in the dream disappeared as well."
