Batman's Batarang arrived in an instant, but it failed to penetrate the whirlwind's range. The Maiden calling herself Starfire floated into the air, evil red light flickering in her eyes.
Schiller said with great interest, "I really didn't expect you to be this easy to provoke. Though it isn't that surprising. If you were a clever person who knew how to be patient, you wouldn't be here right now."
Gordon understood Schiller's words better than anyone. So long as this woman calling herself Starfire had not appeared here, but had instead delivered the videotape by some other means and remained hidden, she could probably have stayed within the Bat-family indefinitely.
Even if Batman had noticed something unusual, he would have had no evidence. He had to deal with the vampires, comfort Barbara, and handle the Bat-family's affairs. During this period alone, she would have had countless opportunities to cause trouble from the shadows.
If she had possessed even a little patience, or a brain larger than a walnut, this scheme of hers might actually have succeeded.
So it came as no surprise that she had exploded over a few words from Schiller. If she were not this stupid, she would not have chosen to reveal herself at this moment.
