Gotham City, a major metropolis on the American East Coast, lay along a pleasant, scenic stretch of coastline. Bludhaven bordered it to the south, while Imperial City stood far to the north. It had a humid subtropical monsoon climate.
Viewed from the air, Gotham resembled a rectangle tilted to the right. Centered around the roundabout on Central Commercial Street, it was divided into four districts: east, south, west, and north.
As mentioned before, the East End contained the docks and the Slums. It was the most chaotic yet also the most vibrant district in all of Gotham. The south was Gotham's financial center and its new Affluent Area. Most photos of Gotham City's skyscrapers and blazing nighttime lights were taken there.
