Tim did not fully trust Natasha's assurance. He really was a lot like Batman—he had to understand the principles behind something before he could trust any definite answer.
But he knew he did not have much time. The gathering would begin the day after tomorrow, and he had to find a way to get back to Schiller first.
After leaving S.H.I.E.L.D., Tim got good news from Pamela. Schiller had taken the initiative to ask Pamela about Assault Cabbage's condition, and the two of them were together now.
Tim hurried over, only to discover that the meeting place was not an apartment or an office, but the entrance to a department store supermarket.
Schiller and Pamela were standing at the entrance discussing something. When they saw Tim running over, they waved at him.
"Did you go see Nick?" Schiller asked.
Tim's heart lurched. He had not forgotten that every version of Schiller was suspected of being able to read minds. If Schiller saw through what he was trying to do, this plan would be ruined.
But Schiller did not press the topic. He turned back to Pamela and said, "So remember, pick the smaller ones. The roots should be whitish rather than yellowish, and the best ones smell like soil when you pick them up."
"What are you talking about?"
Schiller waved a hand and headed toward another entrance to the supermarket. Pamela and Tim turned around and walked back toward the main entrance.
"We're sick of the food here, so Schiller decided to cook for himself. The place he just rented has a pretty good kitchen... He said it has a gas stove and things like that, but I don't really understand."
