"Then can I try?" Williams said. "Can you tell what I'm thinking right now?"

Schiller shook his head. "I think the children's offense only earns you one request. If you want me to tell what you're thinking now, I won't help you with what comes after."

"They could go to prison," Williams emphasized.

"Then I'll notify Bruce Wayne," Schiller said. "As for the others, they don't look like the prison type."

Williams glanced at the interrogation room. He wasn't blind, either. The Guardians of the Galaxy were a little too avant-garde even for the liberal East Coast. One look told him they had serious backing and were unlikely to be locked up.

As for Bruce Wayne's two adopted sons, even a few dozen hours of community service would only happen if Bruce wanted to use the opportunity to teach the children a lesson. If he insisted on protecting them, something this minor could never shake the great tree that was Wayne.

Schiller seemed to have made the decision for him. Williams noticed the way Schiller was observing him had changed. He couldn't describe the feeling, but he felt as though he had been nailed in place, then pierced by something.

A few seconds later, Schiller's gaze shifted slightly away. "You can go back and think it over. I have a class. I'll be leaving first."

He stood and left without even asking about the children. Williams rose almost at the same time, watching his retreating figure leave the room, his expression dark and uncertain.

Suddenly, his phone rang. The moment he answered, his face changed. He roared into the phone, "Sealed off?! Why was it sealed off?! My paperwork is legal... I'll come over right away..."

After Williams left, Gordon released the group from the holding cells and instructed them,
